Men's soccer honors Adams, nipped by Spalding

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's soccer team recognized the career of senior Jon Adams on Saturday prior to the match, but Spalding disappointed Greenville's afternoon with a 2-1 win over the Panthers.

Adams played four years for the Panthers and competed in 70 matches for the Orange and Black.  He collected four goals, six assists, and 14 points in those matches while starting 17 contests.

Spalding posted two first half goals that stood up despite a barrage of 17 Greenville shots.

Greenville added a goal in the 88th minute when Caleb Carpenter scored his 10th of the season.  Max Schimmelpfenning supplied the assist.

Carpenter and Adam Jones each posted two shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Jesus Hernandez faced 11 shots and tallied two saves.

The Panthers (7-10, 2-5 SLIAC) travel to Webster on Tuesday.
