Men's soccer faces national powerhouse Calvin

KENOSHA, Wis. - The men's soccer team faced No. 11 Calvin at the Carthage tournament and were defeated 7-0. The matchup with Calvin marked the second straight season that the two teams have played each other. Last year, Greenville went to Calvin to play the Knights in the NCAA national tournament.

The Panthers kept pace with Calvin in the first half, recording five shots, while Calvin had seven shots.

The Knights received their first goal in the ninth minute and took the 1-0 advantage to halftime.

In the second half, Calvin outshot Greenville 12-3 and received four goals from Sam Twigg on its way to six second half tallies.

Greenville's Christian Gomez managed to come up with three shots for Greenville, including one shot on goal.

Jared McPeek added two shots for GU and had one shot on goal.

Goalkeeper Nick Holland allowed the seven Calvin goals. He also picked up two saves.

The Panthers (3-4) host Illinois College on Tuesday for a match at 7 p.m.
