Men's soccer tallies 2-0 shutout win over Fontbonne

GREENVILLE, Ill. — The men's soccer team gained a 2-0 shutout win over Fontbonne on Wednesday night at Francis Field.

The evenly contested match saw each team take six shots in each half to end with 12 shots each. Greenville put five shots on goal, two of which slipped past Fontbonne's goalkeeper.

The Panthers helped themselves on the scoreboard in the first half when Napoleon Urquidi scored his second goal of the season. Andres Dos Santos received credit for the assist.

In the second half, Jared McPeek posted his team-high seventh goal of the season after receiving a pass from Leandro Gallardo and putting it in the net.

McPeek ended with eight shots for Greenville, including five on goal.

Goalkeeper Nick Holland recorded his second shutout with seven saves in the match.

The Panthers (6-5, 2-0 SLIAC) travel to MacMurray for a match on Saturday at 1 p.m.
