Men's volleyball tops Lincoln's JV, falls to varsity

LINCOLN, Ill. - The men's volleyball team split their matches against Lincoln on Wednesday night on the road.  The Panthers defeated Lincoln's JV team in three sets to open the night but then dropped a four set match to Lincoln's varsity squad.  Greenville played Lincoln at home earlier this season, winning the JV match and falling in a tight five setter.

Greenville opened the varsity match and made an immediate impact with 16 kills/3 errors/31 attacks/.419 hitting percentage as they rolled to a 25-20 first set win.  The Panthers slipped to 12/7/25/.200 in the second set, 12/6/35/.171 in the third set, and 11/11/39/.000 in the clinching set.

The Panthers lost the last three sets 25-20, 25-19, 25-18.

Nick Corrigan was the most efficient Panther on the attack with a line of 10/3/26/.269.

George Black and Kyle Ward provided the high kill totals for GU with 13 apiece.

Reigning MCVL defensive player of the week Ryan Nelson led Greenville with 14 digs.  Corrigan produced a double-double by adding 10 digs.

Johnny Milabu totaled three solo blocks at the net.

Tanner Smith added 50 set assists and also provided three service aces.

The Panthers (10-8) will open their final season of MCVL play with a match at Loras on Friday at 7 p.m.
