Men's volleyball battles Fontbonne in three set loss

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's volleyball team was visited by Fontbonne in MCVL action on Tuesday night and lost in three sets.  Greenville dropped the match 25-22, 25-21, 25-21.

The Panthers came out with a good first set.  The Panthers rode the momentum of a match against their most heated rival to produce 15 kills/4 errors/37 attacks/.297 hitting percentage in the opening set.

Greenville slipped to 8/5/39/.077 in the second set and closed the match with a line of 9/8/29/.034.  Overall, they hit 32/17/105/.143.

George Black was Greenville's top offensive producer with 13 kills and a hitting rate of .265.

Tanner Smith passed the career milestone of 3,000 assists with 27 in the match.  Over four years as a Panther, Smith, of Hermosa Beach, Calif., has served as the team's primary setter and averaged 9.23 assists per set.

Logan Dameris helped Greenville on the defensive side of the court with eight digs, and Isaiah Canales picked up three block assists.

The Panthers (10-13, 0-5 MCVL) host North Park on Saturday at 11 a.m. in a non-conference match.  The Panthers defeated North Park in the opening match of the season.
