Men's cross country places fifth at Illinois-Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The men's cross country team got a fifth place overall finish from senior John Mangold to end as the third place team at the University of Illinois at Springfield Prairie Star Invitational.

Mangold finished the seven kilometer race in 22:32 as he kept up with the first four runners who were separated by less than one second with times of 22:25 and 22:26.

Senior Dylon Niswonger crossed the line in 18th place with a mark of 23:46, and his teammate junior Collin Kessinger was next with a 19th place time of 23:46.

Senior Noah Dir had Greenville's number four time, recording a 32nd place performance in 24:45.

Sophomore Garrett Johnson turned in a 44th place time of 26:01.

The Panthers had 87 points in the final team standings with an average time of 24:12.

Greenville returns to the course in two weeks at the Midwest Intercollegiate Championships hosted in Borbonnais, Ill.
