ELSAH, Ill. - The softball team won a pair of mercy-rule decisions at Principia on Tuesday night.  Greenville won game one 16-2 in six innings and followed that with a 20-1 victory in five innings.

In game one, the Panthers scored four in the first, three in the second, and one in the third to open up an 8-1 lead.  In the top of the sixth, Greenville tacked on eight more runs.

Beth Mersinger went 3-for-4 with seven RBI and two runs scored in game one.  She hit a two-run double in the first, recorded an RBI single in the second, walked with the bases loaded in the third, and capped her game with a three-run home run in the top of the sixth.

Kayla Zimmerman went 4-for-5 from the leadoff position with three runs scored and two RBI.  She had a double and a triple among her four hits.

Katie Myers was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Kendall Farr pitched all six innings, only allowing two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.  Farr also launched a two-run home run.

Game two continued the high level of offensive production as Greenville scored in every inning at bat.

The Panthers scored two, four, five, six, and three runs over each of the first five innings in the win.

Mersinger concluded her career night with a 4-for-5 performance in game two with three runs scored and six RBI.

She hit a two-run home run in the first inning, an RBI double in the third, a two-run double in the fourth, and an RBI single in the fifth.

Overall, Mersinger ended Tuesday with seven hits in nine at bats, scored five runs, hit two home runs, and had 13 RBI.

Amanda Atteberry and Megan Barrett were each 3-for-5 with two runs scored, and Barrett had two RBI.

Greenville's pitching duties were handled by Maegan Stone and Caitie Opp.  Stone started in the circle and went three innings, giving up one run on two hits with five strikeouts.  Opp finished the game with two scoreless innings of relief.

The Panthers (18-8, 12-4 SLIAC) host William Woods in Greenville on Wednesday in a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
