GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team stayed on top of the SLIAC with a 68-66 win over Spalding on Saturday that ended on Jantzen Michael's buzzer beater as time expired.  Michael's game winner came after she received a pass at midcourt from a double-teamed Brittany Lopez and drove to the middle of the lane where her shot banked through the hoop at the final horn.

Spalding slipped ahead of the Panthers early, taking an 11-4 lead in the first three minutes of the game.  Greenville regrouped to cut the lead to one with six straight points before Spalding moved ahed 20-17 after the first quarter.

Greenville took their first lead of the game at 24-23 on a pair of free throws from Michael with 6:34 to go in the second quarter and ended the first half deadlocked at 35-all.

The third quarter finished with the Golden Eagles holding a slim 52-50 lead.

Spalding pushed their lead back to seven in the early moments of the fourth quarter and led by four with four minutes to go when Morgan St. James scored four of her game-high 18 points to tie the score at 62-all.  They traded the lead in the final moments of the game before they settled at 66-all and set the stage for Michael's heroics.

In addition to 18 points from St. James and 10 points from Michael, Greenville's Emily Brandland and Wesley Woodard each added 11 points.

Lauren Eagleson reached double figures in rebounds with 10 which far surpassed her previous season-high of six.

Lopez passed out a season-high seven assists, and Woodard, Michael, Lopez totaled three steals.

The Panthers (10-3, 5-0 SLIAC) host Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
