Women's soccer falls short at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The women's soccer team squared off against Monmouth and was defeated by a 4-0 final score.  However, the match was just 1-0 at halftime as Monmouth scored a final minute goal.  

Monmouth extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal just over a minute into the second half and tacked on two more before the final whistle.

Despite the goal differential, Greenville managed 11 shots in the contest, and Monmouth's goalkeeper was required to make eight saves.

Goalkeeper Marjory Coates protected the net for Greenville and had nine saves.

Greenville's offensive attack was led by Breanna Thomas with three shots, including two on goal.  Dani Pearce also put two shots on goal.

The Panthers (2-3) travel to Knox for a game on Saturday.
