Women's soccer led by Pearce in 6-0 shutout of Illinois College

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team controlled play from start to finish on Wednesday night as they defeated Illinois College 6-0 behind three goals and an assist from Dani Pearce.

Greenville opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the game when Suzi Conner scored her third goal of the season with an assist from Pearce.

In the 34th minute, Pearce scored the first of her three goals which gave her a total of six this season.

With a little less than four minutes to play in the first half, Ellie Cummins recorded her second goal of the season after an assist from Haley Reeser.

Pearce added her second and third goals in the 51st and 64th minutes of the game.

Breanna Thomas capped the night's scoring with a goal in the 66th minute.

Goalkeepers Marjory Coates and Reaghan Lesh combined to offer the shutout for Greenville.

GU outshot Illinois College 37-7.  Pearce offered 11 shots, including nine on goal, and Thomas had seven shots with six on goal.

All seven IC shots were on goal.  Coated totaled four saves, and Lesh had three saves.

The Panthers (7-3) begin conference play on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Iowa Wesleyan at Francis Field.
