DEERFIELD, Ill. - The women's soccer team saw their 2018 season draw to a close with a 5-0 loss at Trinity International in an opening round match of the NCCAA North Central Regional tournament.

The Panthers encountered a talented side in Trinity International which controlled possession and outshot Greenville 32-5 in the contest.

Trinity International set the tone early in the contest with a goal in the third minute.  Just before halftime, they raised the lead to 2-0 before scoring three times in the second half.  The Trojans will now face the Trinity Christian Trolls on Saturday with an appearance in the NCCAA national tournament on the line.

Greenville received two shots on goal from Breanna Thomas and one shot each from Dani Pearce, Michelle Grotefendt, and Gabbie Hartin.

Goalkeeper Marjory Coates was one of the busiest players on the field for Greenville as she encountered 18 shots on goal while producing 14 saves.  Reserve goalkeeper Reaghan Lesh faced two shots on goal and had one save.

The Panthers (14-7-1) concluded their season with their first NCCAA regional appearance since 2011, a second straight SLIAC tournament appearance, and their first appearance in the SLIAC championship game since 2012.  The regional match was the final competition for seniors Pearce, Suzi Conner, Hartin, and Maddie Saffel.

The team won 14 games, which was the highest number in head coach Jeff Wardlaw's seven year tenure as head coach, and only bettered by 16 and 15 win seasons in 2007 and 2009, respectively.
