Women's soccer gains shut out over Harris-Stowe

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team played at home for the first time this season and captured a 1-0 shutout win over previously unbeaten Harris-Stowe.

The Panthers outplayed HSSU throughout the match, holding a 14-9 shot advantage.

Greenville had a number of good opportunities to score, but their only breakthrough occurred in the 40th minute when a free kick from defender Megan Taylor got past the goalkeeper. It was Taylor's first goal of the season.

Greenville goalkeeper Marjory Coates was up the challenge from Harris-Stowe, picking up her second straight 1-0 shutout win. Over the week, Coates went 180 minutes without permitting a goal. In Saturday's match she had two first half saves.

The Panthers (2-3-1) will host Millikin on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on Francis Field.
