Women's track and field places second at SLIAC indoor invitational

ELSAH, Ill. - The women's indoor track and field team managed to take the second place position at Saturday's SLIAC indoor invitational with 116 points. Greenville had two event champions and four entries who received second place.

Two throwers - Savannah Maloney and Deb Cunningham - produced top marks among their field of competitors.

Maloney provided a shot put attempt of 11.75 meters to win her event.

Cunningham took the top position in the weight throw with a distance of 13.55 meters. Her teammate Victoria Papez was right behind Cunningham with a mark of 13.39 meters to take second.

The distance medley relay was also among Greenville's group of second place finishers. Alyssa Comer, Victoria Dyson, Emma Leonhard, and Sheridan Noll, teamed for a time of 14:15.33 in the relay.

Kori Nesbit ended with a second place time of 5:55.80 in the mile run, and Sydney Porter finished the 400 meter dash in 1:05.93.

The Panthers plan to next compete at the Wisconsin Stevens Point NCAA qualifier on March 2.
