GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's volleyball team gained a three-set win over Eureka on Wednesday night in the first match of their SLIAC title defense. Greenville won with scores of 25-21, 32-30, and 25-21.
Senior Allyson Mitchell opened her final season in front of Greenville's fans with a 19-kill performance as she hit at a .385 rate. She only committed four errors in 39 attacks.
Mitchell added eight digs and a block assist.
Freshman Anna Finch gave Greenville eight kills in 21 attacks. She also tallied two solo blocks and one block assist.
Freshman Abby Freeman displayed a dominating serve with five aces in the match.
The Panthers improved their hitting percentage in each set, opening with a .161 mark and reaching .194 in the third set.
Greenville led througout the first and third sets but rallied from 20-15 in the second set as the score reached 32-30. The Panthers staved off four set points in the second set.
The Panthers (5-0, 1-0 SLIAC) will travel to MacMurray on Saturday to play Fontbonne and Iowa Wesleyan.
