Women's volleyball drops pair of four-set matches in Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill. - The women's volleyball team dropped a pair of four set matches at Elmhurst on Saturday. Greenville fell short against Alma and Augustana.

In the first match of the day, the Panthers took a 25-18 victory in the opening set against Alma, but Alma gained a 29-27 win in the second set and then took 25-22 and 25-20 wins to close the match.

Sacorra Patton had 17 kills and 16 digs to produce another double-double in the start of her career at GU.

Jasmin Smith added 13 kills and a 18 digs.

Kaitlin Murray posted 38 assists and tied Smith with 18 digs.

Chasity Hill led Greenville with 19 digs.

In their second match, Greenville won the second set 25-19, but finished the tournament with a 25-20, 19-25, 25-16, 25-16 loss to Augustana.

Smith managed 11 kills and 17 digs in the match to lead the squad in both categories.

Murray held the team-high with 28 assists.

Gretchen Bond and Hill each had three service aces, and Hill also posted 14 digs.

The Panthers (1-3) return to the court next Friday at Franklin in a match against Baldwin-Wallace.
