GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team team closed the regular season with a three set loss to WashU in H.J. Long Gymnasium. The Panthers were competitive in every set, falling 25-23, 25-21, 25-20.

The loss was Greenville's first in a month, and it broke a winning streak of 12 matches. Additionally, it was their first loss at home in over a year. The Panthers last fell in H.J. Long Gymnasium on Oct. 30, 2018, against WashU in a four set battle.

Greenville finished the match on the short side of the hitting percentage ledger, wrapping up the contest at .119 (32-19-109) compared to a .262 (43-15-107) mark produced by WashU.

Anna Finch led Greenville with a double-figure effort in kills with 10 and a hitting percentage of .421 (10-2-19).

Mia Bonacorsi ended just one kill behind Finch with nine and a rate of .250 (9-4-20).

Chasity Hill found herself at the top of Greenville's digs list with 18. Hill finished with three times as many digs as GU's next highest entry on the list.

Kaitlin Murray and Jasmin Smith each managed to produce three service aces.

Greenville led the first set 16-14, but WashU forced the Panthers to call a timeout when they recorded six straight points to take control at 20-16. The teams were even the rest of the way, but the four point deficit was too much for the Panthers to overcome as set one went to the Bears.

In the second set, the teams found themselves knotted at 16-all, but WashU earned a pair of points to lead 18-16, and they never again trailed in taking the set 25-21.

Greenville led the third set 16-13, but the Bears captured six straight points to go on top 19-16. During the run, Greenville attempted to stop the momentum with a timeout at 17-16. However, WashU collected two more points, and GU could not get any closer than two points for the remainder of the match.

The Panthers (22-8) now turn their attention to the SLIAC tournament on Saturday. Greenville will play MacMurray in a semifinal at 2 p.m., and the championship match will occur at 7 p.m.
