Cayden Sharp chosen as June Strahl award winner

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Greenville University Athletic Department has announced senior graduate Cayden Sharp as the winner of the 2022 June Strahl award as its top senior female student-athlete.

Sharp was a two-sport athlete in indoor and outdoor track and field, qualifying for the NCAA Division III national championships in the indoor pentathlon in 2022 and the outdoor heptathlon in 2021 and 2022.

The most decorated student-athlete in SLIAC indoor and outdoor track and field history, Sharp obtained 33 medals, 14 indoor and 19 outdoor, combined between three indoor and three outdoor SLIAC championship meets.

In indoor track and field, she was also the NCCAA national champion in the pentathlon.

Sharp is a two-time SLIAC outdoor field athlete of the meet, winning the award in 2021 and 2022.

She also earned the NCCAA outdoor field athletes of the meet after winning the national championship in the heptathlon and collecting medals in four other events.

Sharp, a social work graduate, has collected every academic award she was eligible to receive from the SLIAC, NCCAA, and US Track Coaches Association.

This award is made to the outstanding senior women's athlete. It is presented on the basis of athletic involvement and academic achievement while at Greenville University. It also exemplifies Christian character, leadership, commitment and loyalty to Greenville University and to its athletic program.

The award will be presented at halftime of the Homecoming football game on Saturday, October 15.
