Baseball extends Florida winning streak to three with two shutout wins over SUNY Poly

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The baseball team stretched their Spring Break winning streak to three games with two shutouts of SUNY Poly on Thursday. Greenville defeated the Wildcats 8-0 in game one before an 11-0 triumph in game two.

Greenville scored three runs in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth innings of game one.

Trent Morgenstern ended game one with a 3-for-5 hitting performance with a run scored and two RBI. He doubled for the Panthers.

Drew Frey posted a 2-for-4 outing with a run scored, and Dustin Sutton went 1-for-3 with two RBI

Greenville's pitching limited the Wildcats to only five hits.

Luke Fleener (1-2) pitched the first six innings, only allowing five hits and two walks while striking out six. Seth Burnham closed the game on the mound with a scoreless inning of relief.

In game two, Sutton went 3-for-3 with five RBI and Tanner Gerdes posted a 3-for-4 hitting performance with two RBI in Greenville's 11-0 win.

The Panthers plated two runs in the first inning and five in the second as they built a 7-0 lead. GU added four runs in the fifth inning.

Lucas Teel (2-2) struck out seven over five innings as he picked up the win. He allowed eight baserunners, but only three hit safely. He walked two and hit three batters while collecting seven strikeouts.

Austin Long closed the win in relief with two scoreless innings and only permitted a walk and added two strikeouts.

The Panthers (7-7) will face St. Norbert on Friday in Auburndale, Fla., at Lake Myrtle Park.
