GREENVILLE, Ill. - The baseball team broke Fontbonne's winning streak with a 12-inning 11-10 win in game one before dropping the second game 11-9 on Saturday at Robert E. Smith Field.

After falling behind 2-0 after two innings of game one, Greenville exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fourth to establish a lead.

Fontbonne battled back, cutting the lead to 6-4 before the Panthers added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Griffins kept adding runs and eventually took a 10-9 lead in the top of the ninth.

Drew Frey received a leadoff walk in the ninth and went to second on a wild pitch before Caleb Sedmak sacrificed him to third base. During Landon Mokris's at bat, the Fontbonne hurler delivered a wild pitch that allowed Frey to cross the plate with the tying run.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 12th when Greenville received a pair of baserunners before Frey stepped to the plate and lined a game-winning single to right field.

In the second game, the Panthers slipped behind 5-0 in the second and 6-1 in the top of the fifth but managed to tie the game at 6-6 with a five run fifth inning.

Mokris delivered a two run homer in the fifth, tying the game.

The Griffins eventually went back on top 11-6 before the Panthers rallied with three runs over the final two innings. Tanner Gerdes provided a two-run home run in the ninth inning that eventually allowed GU to bring the tying run to the plate.

Fontbonne retired Greenville's final batter to win the series.

The Panthers (13-13, 5-4 SLIAC) are scheduled for a home game on Wednesday against Rose-Hulman before traveling to Westminster for a weekend three game series.
