Baseball topped 13-5 by MIlikin

GREENVILLE, Ill. - A scoreless game through three innings began to tilt in Millikin's favor in the fourth inning as MU established a 10-0 lead over the next three innings and eventually took a 13-5 win over the Greenville baseball team.

The Big Blue reached starting pitcher Ian Wilson for a run in the fourth inning, and head coach Lynn Carlson lifted Wilson in favor of lefthanded reliever Lucas Teel. Teel retired two batters but still allowed four runs on one hit, two walks, and two hit batsmen as he worked into the fifth.

Austin Long entered the game in the fifth inning as a substitute for Teel, and he gave up three runs, two earned, without Millikin gaining the benefit of a hit.

The Big Blue added two runs in the sixth inning off Craig Oertel before Dylan Boehm held Millikin scoreless with two strikeouts in the seventh inning.

Seth Burnham closed the game for Greenville on the mound with two innings, giving up three unearned runs on three hits and two walks.

The Panthers received a run in the sixth when the shortstop dropped a pop fly off the bat of Landon Mokris.

In the seventh, GU cut the deficit to 10-5 with a bases loaded walk of Drew Frey and later an error by the third baseman during Mokris's at bat. The error cleared the bases.

Mark Islas posted the only multi-hit effort for GU, going 2-for-4 with a double.

The Panthers (15-15) host Spalding on Friday and Saturday in Greenville at Robert E. Smith Field. Friday's single game begins at 5 p.m., and it is followed on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
