GREENVILLE, Ill. - The baseball team opened their final home conference series of the season with 15-5 loss to Spalding on Friday night.

A six run third inning from the Golden Eagles increased their lead to seven runs, and the Panthers were unable to get any closer over the remaining innings.

Drew Frey, Blake Duncan, and Tanner Gerdes all had two hits for the Panthers. Frey and Gerdes launched home runs.

Braden Maltbie picked up the loss on the mound, working into the third inning and permitting seven runs on six hits and five walks. Seth Burnham and Connor Ott were the only Panther relievers that did not give up runs. However, three runs charged to Austin Long in the ninth inning were unearned.

The Panthers (15-16, 7-6 SLIAC) will host Spalding in a doubleheader on Saturday at Noon.
