Baseball splits Saturday doubleheader against Central

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The baseball team hosted a doubleheader against Central (Iowa), and the teams split the two games. Greenville won game one 8-7, and Central earned a 15-9 win in game two.

The Panthers slipped behind 2-0 after the first inning of game one, but a three-run home run by Landon Mokris in the second inning gave the Panthers the lead.

Maltbie left the game with hopes of earning his first win of the season, but the Dutch scored five runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game, and it took an RBI double from Nathan Eye in the bottom of the eighth to give GU the lead.

Jacob Hammer pitched two innings to collect the win.

Snyder Pennington and R. Pennington both scored a pair of runs.

Game two saw Central score in their first six innings at bat, and Greenville tallied runs in their first three innings in a 15-9 slugfest.
