Baseball falls 13-5 at Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The baseball team dropped a 13-5 decision against Rose-Hulman on Wednesday in their final non-conference contest before the start of SLIAC play.

Greenville fell behind and tied the score on three occasions before Rose-Hulman delivered a knockout blow in the bottom of the eighth to put the game out of reach.

The Panthers slipped behind 2-0 after one inning but took the lead in the top of the second with three runs.

RHIT regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second, but the Panthers tied the score at 4-all in the top of the fourth.

A run by the Engineers in the bottom of the fifth was matched by GU in the top of the sixth, but Rose-Hulman added one in the sixth, one in the seventh, and six in the eighth for the eight run win.

The Greenville offensive effort was led by Jacob Sutton and Snyder Pennington who both had 2-for-5 outings at the plate. Sutton drove in three runs, and Pennington posted one RBI.

Rhett Pennington reached based twice, scoring a pair of runs, and also added a stolen base.

Luke Fleener started on the mound and allowed two runs, one earned, in an inning of work.

He yielded the mound to Ty Kueper who three innings of relief with three runs.

Terry Millikan was the losing pitcher with two runs permitted in three innings. Millikan struck out two.

Luke McBee finished the game on the mound and gave up six runs, four earned, in the eighth inning.

The Panthers (6-13) will host Spalding in a SLIAC doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
