Football led by 231 rushing yards from Garrett in 42-14 win over Westminster

FULTON, Mo. - The football team rolled to a 42-14 victory against Westminster on Saturday afternoon on the road.

After a Terrance Brown receiving touchdown in the first quarter, Westminster tied the game early in the second quarter. However the Panthers rattled off three touchdowns before the end of the quarter and took a 28-7 lead to halftime.

In the third quarter, Greenville added two more touchdowns with an 85 yard run by Paul Garrett and a 63 yard touchdown reception from Brown, opening up a 42-7 lead.

Westminster got a touchdown with 10:28 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Panthers outperformed Westminster on offense with a 523-226 advantaged in total offense.

Garrett ran for 231 yards on 18 carries.

Chase Butterfield completed 10-of-14 passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns.

Brown had three catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns while Matthew Tiger added three catches for 38 yards and a TD.

Lakari Benjamin paced Greenville's defensive performance with nine tackles.

Javiera Bovell had two and a half quarterback sacks, and Turjon McLaurin had one and a half sacks.

The Panthers (5-2, 3-0 UMAC) will be off next week, and they return to action at home against Crown on Homecoming Saturday, October 30, at 1 p.m. The Panthers are currently tied with Minnesota Morris for first place in the UMAC standings.
