Football falls on the road at Northwestern

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The football team dropped a 41-35 UMAC contest at Northwestern on Saturday. The Panthers mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter, taking a 41-21 deficit and posting two touchdowns to bring the score within a single possession. However, the Panthers final possession ended in an interception and the Eagles bagged the win, their first over GU since 2018.

Greenville trailed 10-7 after the first quarter and 20-7 at halftime.

UNW eventually pushed their lead to 27-7 in the third quarter, but GU made the score 27-21 at the end of three quarters. Both teams scored two TD's in the fourth quarter.

The Panthers received three touchdowns in the game from Paul Garrett who rushed 21 times for 138 yards.

Peyton Bates completed 16-of-30 passes to record 177 yards, and Seth Logan caught five passes for 74 yards.

Greenville's Dewayne Garrett was the team leader with nine tackles, including a sack and two and a half tackles for a loss of yards.

Mitchell Schaeffer also added a quarterback sack and two tackles for a loss.

The Panthers (3-3, 1-1 UMAC) host Westminster in their Homecoming game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
