Men's basketball falls to Pacific at Whitworth

SPOKANE, Wash. - The men's basketball team concluded their trip to Washington with a 155-125 loss to Pacific (Ore.) in the second game of the Whitworth tournament.

Pacific led 81-55 at halftime, and Greenville played a tighter second half only being outscored by four, 74-70.

After Kenneth Cooley's 31-point outing in Friday's game, Pacific held Cooley to only four points in Saturday's game, but Cam Irvin stepped forward to fill the gap with 26 points, making 9-of-24 shots from the floor. He shot 6-of-19 behind the three-point line.

Romello Ball posted 17 points for Greenville, and Everett Campbell had 16 points.

Greenville's top assist man ended as Ball with six, and Jarred Johnson collected five steals to lead the team in that category.

GU's top rebounders were Chris Jackson and Ball each with eight.

The Panthers (0-2) will return to action at home on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 4 p.m. with a game against North Central who received votes in the NCAA Division III D3hoops.com preseason Top 25 poll.
