Men's basketball drops 132-119 SLIAC contest at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The men's basketball team received a career-high 35 points from Cam Irvin in their 132-119 loss at Spalding on Wednesday night.

The Panthers only trailed by one, 63-62, at halftime, and the score was 97-all when Greenville called a timeout with 9:06 remaining in the game.

After GU's timeout, the Golden Eagles rattled off 13 unanswered points, establishing a 110-97 lead with 5:34 to play.

The Panthers faced a double-figures deficit for the rest of the game, and eventually Spalding led by as many as 18 points.

Irvin's 35 points came on 13-of-25 made field goal attempts, including 9-of-19 three pointers.

Kenneth Cooley, Travis Dickey, and Everett Campbell joined Irvin with double figure scoring. Cooley contributed 14 points, Dickey had 12 points, and Campbell added 11 points.

Romello Ball and Campbell led their units in assists. Ball picked up nine assists, and Campbell had seven assists.

Greenville's defensive pressure was led by Ball with five steals, and Trenton Lee with four steals.

Ball and Lee also finished as GU's leading rebounders with seven each, and Ball tacked on two blocked shots.

The Panthers (1-13, 0-3 SLIAC) continue their season on Saturday at Fontbonne. The Griffin squad will be competing in their first conference contest.
