Men's basketball upended by Buena Vista at Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. - The men's basketball team opened the Snyder Classic at Nebraska Wesleyan with a 137-106 loss to Buena Vista from Iowa.

The Panthers were led in scoring by six players who reached double figures. Keishun Thomas, the Panthers leading scorer on the season, was GU's top point producer against Buena Vista with 15 points.

Thomas was closely followed by Joseph Craig with 14 points, and Travis Dickey was right behind Thomas and Craig with 12 points. Craig was the Panthers leading rebounder with eight and tied Jarred Johnson for the team high with three steals. Thomas provided a team-high three assists.

Three players in the starting unit - Darius Scott, J. Johnson, and Kaidyn Johnson - posted 10 points.

The Panthers played a tight first half, taking a six point 60-54 deficit to the locker room. In the second half, Buena Vista shot better than 72 percent to take command of the contest.

The Panthers (0-6) are scheduled for a 5 p.m. tip against Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday. NWU was defeated by North Central (Minn.) on Friday night.
