Men's basketball captures second win in three games with victory over Spalding

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team captured their second win in three games with a 111-91 win against Spalding in front of their home audience on Thursday night.

The Panthers, who lead all NCAA schools with 103.5 points per game, increased their nation-leading scoring average in the win.

Carlos Crespo and Keishun Thomas played in the same rotation on Thursday and finished at the top of Greenville's scoring list. Crespo posted 20 points, and Thomas added 18 points. Adrian Alvarez also played in this same grouping and gave the Panthers 12 points.

Jarred Johnson and Travis Dickey finished at top of the starting five's unit with 14 points apiece.

Crespo also led the Panthers with seven rebounds, and Johnson tallied a team-best five assists and six steals.

Overall, the Panthers shot 48.2 percent from the floor (41-of-85) and made close to 40 percent of their three-point attempts (20-of-51). They were dynamite at the free throw line, shooting 90 percent (9-of-10) from the charity stripe.

The Panthers (3-15, 2-5 SLIAC) pulled into a three-way tie with Blackburn and Spalding for fifth place in the conference standings, and they face fourth place Eureka on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Greenville.
