Men's basketball falls 114-105 at Knox

GALESBURG, Ill. - The men's basketball team resumed their season after the Thanksgiving holiday with a game at Knox on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers dropped the contest 114-105.

Greenville fell behind 62-47 at halftime and outscored Knox in the second half 58-52. GU pulled within 10 points in the final two minutes of the game as they tried to eliminate the deficit, but they did not manage to get any closer than a three-possession difference.

Ja'Rod Webb finished the game as the Panther high scorer with 21 points. Webb converted 8-of-16 shots from the floor, including 2-of-10 three-pointers, and made 3-of-4 at the free throw line.

Malik Johnson provided 13 points, and Kendrick Alexander had 12 points. Alexander added 10 rebounds to produce a double-double.

Grimmett Glenn and Christian Bennett each ended with 11 points.

Vincent Rodriguez led the team in assists with four and joined Glenn as GU's leader in steals with two.

The Panthers faced challenges behind the three-point line and at the free throw line. Greenville only knocked down 12-of-50 three-pointers and 13-of-26 free throws.

The Panthers (4-2) travel to Concordia Chicago for a game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before their 18-game SLIAC season begins on Saturday, Dec. 2.
