Men's basketball races past Lyon 129-116 in Arkansas

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The men's basketball competed with their full roster for the first time in several outings, and it resulted in a critical 129-116 win at Lyon on Thursday night.

Starting a squad of five seniors brought the Panthers life at the outset and set the stage for a Panther effort that never saw them trail in the contest.

Greenville led 67-49 at halftime and pushed their lead to 29 points before Lyon rallied to make the score more respectable.

Greenville's scoring attack saw Kiarie Patrick and Christian Bennett both reach 20 points in the contest. Patrick posted 21 points, and Bennett followed with 20 points.

Carlos Crespo added 14 points, and Ja'Rod Webb and Adrian Alvarez each had 13. Grimmett Glenn tacked on 10 points.

Patrick led GU with eight rebounds and three steals, and Vincent Rodriguez provided five assists and three steals. Webb also chipped in three steals.

The Panthers (15-7, 10-5 SLIAC) currently find themselves in a second place tie in the conference standings with three games to play. The Panthers return to the court on Saturday in Columbus, Miss., at MUW.
