Men's gymnastics defeats Simpson for first dual meet win

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The men's gymnastics program collected the first dual win in school history with a 373.350-359.200 victory at Simpson on Saturday.

Zach Connelly was the event winner in the floor, posting a score of 13.350.

Major Bain, Jacob Foster, and Koby Cantu finished 1-2-3 in the pommel. Bain provided a score of 12.700, Foster earned 12.600, and Cantu had 12.050.

In the still rings, Greenville had the top four positions with Foster (12.750), Elijah Cruz (12.700), Ethan Poole (12.650), and Ryan Barela (12.600) dominating the competition.

The Panthers also had the top four positions in the vault with Michael Avery (14.300), Bain (14.250), Thomas Hoagland (14.050), and Barela (14.050).

Ricky Mays provided GU with second place in the parallel bars with a score of 12.600.

In the horizontal bar competition, Foster (12.650), Mays (12.150), and Cantu (12.000) posted the three top scores.

The Panthers are scheduled to next compete in a tentative home virtual meet on Feb. 18.
