Men's gymnastics led by ECAC vault champion Ricky Mays in conference championships

ANNAPOLIS, Mary. - The men's gymnastics team competed in their first ECAC conference championships on Saturday on the campus of the United States Naval Academy. Ricky Mays was the conference champion in the vault, and the Panthers finished fifth of the six teams with an overall score of 376.2500. Navy won the conference championship with a score of 394.4500.

Mays earned a score of 14.4000 in the vault which topped two men who finished with scores of 14.2500 to place second. Overall, the Panthers were fifth in the vault with an overall score of 67.8500.

The Panthers provided their best team results in the pommel horse, earning 61.4500 points in the rotation to finish second among the teams.

Greenville had the fifth place individual score in the pommel from Koby Cantu with a total of 12.8500, and Jacob Foster and Major Bain tied for sixth with a total of 12.8000. Marco Valencia was tenth with a score of 12.3500 to give GU four of the top 10.

The Panthers were fourth in the high bar with a total of 59.4000. Donovan Diviney posted GU's top score in the high bar with a mark of 12.2500 which tied for 15th individually.

Greenville ranked fifth among teams in each of the other three rotations.

Zach Connelly was best in the floor exercise for GU with a ninth place score of 13.1500 as the Panthers received 62.3500 points in the rotation.

GU finished with 62.45000 points in the still rings.  Mays tied for sixth in the rings with a score of 13.0500

Mays was ninth for GU in the parallel bars with a score of 13.0500 which tied for the position. The Panthers gained 62.7500 points in the rotation.

The Panthers will now await word on their participation in the NCAA championships that will be held April 14-15 at Penn State.
