Men's gymnastics wins two of six events at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The men's gymnastics team opened with a strong showing at Michigan by placing second of the three teams, trailing only 21.400 points behind Michigan.

Panthers come within a point of beating their program high from last year with a total team score of 383.500!

Greenville took first place in two of the six events: floor and vault. 

Sophomore Zach Connelly debuted a new FX set with a stuck dismount to score a 14.1.

Freshman Logan Watterson drilled his Kaz 3/2 on vault to snag the title and received the Newt Loken Outstanding Performance Award for his strong NCAA debut.

The Panthers also had notable appearances in the other events.

Jacob Foster posted a score of 13.150 to take fourth place in the pommel, and Henry Silva placed fifth with a 12.950.

In the rings, GU's freshman Sergey Popov, and Michigan's Wolfgang tied for fourth place with a 13.400 score. 

Greenville took fourth place on the parallel bars with Jaxon Clapper's 13.350 performance. 

Mac Pollock, Donovan Diviney, and Foster took fifth through seventh place on the horizontal bar with respective marks of 13.100, 12.850, and 12.450. 

GU did not have anyone participate in the All-Around competition. 

The Panthers will next compete at Ohio State on Jan. 13 at 11 a.m.
