Men's soccer rolls 5-1 behind four goals from McPeek

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's soccer team received four goals from Jared McPeek and defeated Fontbonne 5-1 on Saturday in a road matchup.

McPeek recorded a hat trick in the first 21 minutes of the match as the Panthers took early control of the contest.

McPeek was assisted by Pedro Gonzalez-Moro in the fifth minute of the match and then scored a second goal about 30 seconds later with an assist from Luis Duran.

Gonzalez-Moro and Duran combined for the assists on McPeek's third goal in the 21st minute, a shot he put in the bottom left corner of the net.

Before the half ended, Jaime Torres recorded a goal in the 40th minute with an assist from Juan Salazar.

McPeek made the score 5-0 in the 59th minute with another strike into the bottom left corner.

Fontbonne spoiled Pedro Vebber's clean sheet with a goal in the 75th minute.

Overall, the Panthers were extremely efficient, producing five goals on only seven shots.

Fontbonne was credited with 20 shots, including six on goal. Vebber collected five saves.

The Panthers (6-7, 4-3 SLIAC) host Blackburn on Wednesday at 5 p.m. on Francis Field.
