Men's soccer defeats Westminster 5-3 in high-scoring affair

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team maintained their third place position in the SLIAC standings with a 5-3 win over Westminster on Wednesday night at Francis Field.

Greenville took control with four first half goals, opening up a 4-0 lead at the intermission.

In the second half, the Blue Jays tightened the score, but the contest was never in doubt as Greenville earned the win.

Napoleon Urquidi was the leading goal scorer for GU with two in the match.

Jaime Torres picked up a goal and two assists, and Benn Jane chipped in a goal and an assist.

Jared McPeek also connected with his team-high 12th goal of the season.

Greenville's Pedro Vebber faced 15 shots as GU's goalkeeper, and he stopped three shots for saves.

The Panthers (9-7-1, 7-3-1 SLIAC) will go to Principia for a match on Saturday at 1 p.m.
