Men's soccer ties Lyon 1-1 at home

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team locked up with Lyon in a 1-1 draw on Thursday night at Francis Field.

The Panthers outshot the Scots 5-4 in the first half, but their efforts were fruitless, unfortunately.

After a scoreless first half, Greenville came out strong in the second. Within the first five minutes of the half, Pablo Valverde put the Panthers ahead 1-0 with a goal assisted by Gabriel Lima.

Shortly after, Lyon tried to tie it up in the 50th minute, but Hiram Cruz had a beautiful kick save that stopped the shot from going in. That was one of Cruz's two saves of the game.

The Scots ended up scoring in the 54th minute, tying it up 1-1. Neither team scored again in the remaining thirty-six minutes.

The Panthers (3-6-1, 0-1-1 SLIAC) will host Spalding on Saturday at 1 p.m.
