Men's soccer locks up with Westminster in 2-2 draw

FULTON, Mo. - The men's soccer team tied Westminster 2-2 on Wednesday evening in Fulton.

Pablo Valverde posted two goals for the Panthers (6-6-3, 2-1-3 SLIAC).

The Blue Jays scored early on in the 4th minute, but Greenville responded later in the half to make it 1-1 before halftime.

The score stayed there for most of the second half until Valverde had an unassisted goal in the 86th minute, giving the Panthers a 2-1 lead. 

However, Westminster tied it up just two minutes later. 

Greenville had many scoring opportunities, outshooting the Blue Jays 27-6. 

Rafael Navas led the Panthers offensively with six shots. 

Hiram Cruz was in the net again for Greenville and had three saves. 

GU returns to action next Wednesday against Eureka at home with a 5 p.m. kickoff.
