Men's tennis splits Saturday matches

ALBION, Mich. - The men's tennis team won a combined 10 of 18 matches in a trip to Michigan for two matches on Saturday. The Panthers lost a 6-3 decision to Spring Arbor before capturing a 7-2 win over Albion.

The Panthers opened their day against Spring Arbor where GU's No. 2 doubles team of Luke Motsinger and Clark Kent and No. 3 doubles tandem of Thibaut Tignee and Jean Rigaud Sanabria provided identical 8-6 wins.

In singles play, SAU managed to secure four of the six wins to take the match. No. 1 Andres Sanchez took a 7-6 (7-0), 7-5 win, and No. 3 Clark Kent finished on top 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 in GU's two singles wins.

Greenville rolled to a 7-2 victory in their match against Albion.

The No. 1 doubles team of Sanchez and Motsinger won 8-7 (7-3), and No. 2 Kent and Jean Rigaud Sanabria triumphed 8-4.

GU won five of the six singles matches in straight sets with No. 1 Sanchez, No. 2 Kent, No. 3 Motsinger, No. 4 Sanabria, and No. 5 Tignee taking wins.

The Panthers (4-3) will next face Central and Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, March 2.
