Men's cross country wraps up 2021 season with 14th place at NCAA regional

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The men's cross country team completed their 2021 fall season with a strong 14th place showing at Augustana in the NCAA Division III regional on Saturday.

As has been the case all season, the Panthers were led by Gianni Estrada who provided Greenville with 42 points in the team standings.  In Estrada's 42nd place finish, he passed the midpoint at 12:38 and edned in 25:24.  He missed qualification for the NCAA Division III nationals by 30 seconds.

Garrett Johnson provided Greenville's second best time and 84 points while Kaleb Carlson added 94 points.  Johnson was 84th with a time of 26:44, and Carlson was 94th in 27:02.

Lukas Baird gave GU 101 points, and Jeremiah Perry provided 107 points.  Baird completed the race in 27:12 while Perry finished in 27:18.

The Panthers ended their 2021 season wth first place finishes at the SLIAC championships and the Greenville Classic.  They were also second at Illinois-Springfield.  The Panthers finished in the top half of all teams when competing in multi-team events.
