Men's cross country falls to Washington University in season opening meet

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's cross country team opened their 2022 season as the defending SLIAC champions with a dual meet against Washington University on Thursday morning.

The Panthers dropped the contest 15-50 to the Bears who posted a perfect score against GU.

Jeremiah Perry posted the best time among Greenville's runners, clocking a time of 19:37 in the six kilometer race, and finishing 11th in the field of 35 participants.

Greenville's number two runner was Joe Gomez who posted a time of 19:54 in 15th place, and Kaleb Carlson recorded a time of 19:59 to place 19th.

Adam Wellen was 22nd with a time of 20:53, and Elijah Atkins posted a time of 20:59 in 23rd place to close out Greenville's scoring positions.

The Panthers return to action at Olivet Nazarene on Friday, Sept. 16.
