Men's cross country collects 55th position from Estrada at NCAA D-III nationals

LANSING, Mich. - The men's cross country team received a 55th place finish from Gianni Estrada in the NCAA Division III national championships on Saturday.

The Panthers were not represented by an entire team. Rather, Estrada qualified as an individual after his finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional last Saturday.

He was the first Greenville runner at the national championships since Josh Martsolf in 2005, and he was Greenville's fifth male qualifier (Mark Theiss, two times; Jeff Boele, one; and Martsolf, one).

Estrada posted a time of 25:46 on the eight kilometer course.

He averaged 5:12 per kilometer and posted splits of 5:01/10:09/14:43/19:50/22:16.

His best time occurred on the third kilometer which he completed in 4:34.

Estrada finished the season as the SLIAC champion and SLIAC runner of the year.
