Softball finishes spring break trip with split

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The softball team split a doubleheader on Friday in their final games of Spring Break. Greenville dropped a 4-3 game against Lycoming before defeating Franciscan 11-1.

In Greenville's 4-3 loss to Lycoming, Megan Chapman went 3-for-3, including a home run.

Mia Boyd also homered and drove in two runs in a 1-for-3 performance.

Melissa Bernal pitched all six innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits.

In the day's second game, the Panthers collected 16 hits in their 11-1 win against Franciscan.

Desirae Yost went 4-for-5 with a double and a triple and scored two runs.

Morgan Wendling had a 2-for-5 performance from the lead-off spot, scoring twice and driving in three runs.

Alison Klaus produced a seven-inning one hitter with seven strikeouts.

The Panthers (5-11) face Rose-Hulman on the road on Wednesday.
