GREENVILLE, Ill. - The softball team surpassed the 2014 edition of the Panthers with their 30th and 31st wins on Saturday against Eureka.  The Panthers won game one 3-1 and shortened game two to five innings in a 9-0 win.

Eureka jumped in front in game one after scoring a run in the first inning. The Panthers responded with three runs in the bottom of the first after Madi Case doubled to left center, scoring Josie Grunloh, and then Natalee Moore followed it with a two-run homer to center field. The rest of the game remained scoreless.

Moore led the team at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a walk, one run, and two RBIs. Emma Williams also had an impressive game with a 2-for-3 appearance and two stolen bases.

Sydnee Garrett dominated in the circle, throwing eight strikeouts and only allowing three hits all game.

In game two, GU quickly scored three runs in the bottom of the first, added two more in the second inning, and ended it with four more runs in the fourth to make it a short game.

Case and Garrett were responsible for hitting in eight of those runs, collecting four RBIs each. Case went 2-for-3 with a double, and Garrett went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run.

Sarah Salas started on the rubber for game two. She struck out two batters and only allowed one hit. Valerie Greenley relieved Salas in the fifth inning, striking out two of the four batters she faced.

Greenville clinched second place in the regular season with a 12-4 conference record which gives them a bye in the tournament.

The Panthers (31-7) will return to action in Louisville, Ky., at the SLIAC tournament on Thursday, May 9.
