LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The women's basketball team defeated Covenant on Saturday in the Mountaintop Madness classic to finish 2-0 over the weekend and win the four team event that also included Berry and Brevard.  The Saturday game featured a matchup of Greenville head coach Roy Mulholland against his former assistant coach and Covenant head coach Skylar Bareford.  Mulholland's team rose to the challenge and ended with the upper hand in the tilt.

Led by tournament MVP Emily Reinneck and all-tournament team selection Ashley Anderson, Greenville recovered from a 28-24 halftime deficit with a 22-12 advantage in the third quarter that changed the course of the game.  The Panthers were led in the scoring column by Amanda Brooks with 11 points.  She made 4-of-6 field goal attempts, including 3-of-4 three pointers.

Anderson nearly had a double-double in the game with eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds.  Madelyn Stephen also added eight rebounds.

Abigail Reinneck came off the bench to provide four assists and two steals, leading GU in both categories.  Haven Robertson also had two steals.

Overall, the Panthers outshot Covenant by making 32.8 percent of their shots and holding the Scots to a 30.2 percent clip.  GU made 8-of-23 three pointers, bettering Covenant's 8-of-30 mark.

Greenville also controlled the glass, outrebounding Covenant 46-39.

The Panthers (2-2) will travel to Aurora for a game on Tuesday night.
