Women's basketball dominates Knox in first half of 72-55 win

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team received 16 first half points from Madelyn Stephen, helping them to a commanding 41-19 halftime lead, in their 72-55 victory over Knox on Saturday.

The win was Greenville's sixth straight and improved their season record to 6-2.

The adjustments from Knox in the locker room at halftime allowed the Prairie Fire to outscore Greenville by five in the second half, but the Panthers superior first half effort gave Greenville the cushion it needed to top KC.

GU received 18 points from Stephen in their winning effort. She made 7-of-9 shot attempts, including a mark of 4-of-6 behind the three-point arc.

Ashley Anderson helped the Panthers with 13 points, and Ally Cantrill produced 11 points.

Anderson was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds.

Emily Reinneck provided Greenville with six rebounds and five assists, while Cantrill added four steals.

The Panthers will play their next game on Saturday, Dec. 11, against NCAA Division I opponent Western Illinois in Macomb.
