Women's basketball drops matchup at NCAA D-I Western Illinois

MACOMB, Ill. - The women's basketball team dropped a 105-56 decision at NCAA D-I Western Illinois on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers permitted the Leathernecks to score the first 10 points of the game and dug an early hole that they could not overcome.

Greenville trailed 31-15 after the first quarter and 58-31 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Panthers held WIU to 21 points, but the Leathernecks still managed to extend their lead to 79-41. In the final quarter, Western outscored Greenville 26-14.

Emily Reinneck finished as GU's top scorer with 19 points. She made 7-of-22 shots, including a mark of 3-of-11 behind the three point line. She converted both of her free throws and added a team-high two steals.

Abigail Reinneck ended with nine points, and both Reinneck sisters totaled seven rebounds. Ashley Anderson was tied for the game-high with eight rebounds.

The Panthers collected 17 assists in the game, led by Ally Cantrill with four.

The Panthers (6-3) will travel to Washington St. Louis on Saturday, Jan. 1, for their next contest.
