Women's basketball pounds Principia in SLIAC matchup

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team returned to H.J. Long Gymnasium for the first time in a month and defeated Principia 86-52 in the first SLIAC contest of the 2021-22 season.

Emily Reinneck provided Greenville with 19 points, making 8-of-18 field goal attempts, 2-of-10 three-pointers and her only free throw.

Madelyn Stephen and Mikayla Bundren each finished with 15 points, and Abigail Reinneck posted 10 points.

The Panthers were led by Ashley Anderson's 12 rebound effort, and Ally Cantrill passed out seven assists.

GU's Payten Morris and Abigail Reinneck each added four steals.

The Panthers took control of the game in the first quarter with a 21-14 lead after one period. At halftime, the score stood with Greenville holding a 45-31 lead.

Greenville extended their lead again with a 21-10 third quarter, bringing the score to 66-41, and wrapped up the game with a 20-11 lead in the fourth quarter.

The Panthers (7-4, 1-0 SLIAC) continue their season on Saturday with a game against undefeated Webster at 1 p.m.
