Women's basketball drops 80-68 contest against Webster

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team was unable to hang on to a narrow 42-38 halftime lead against Webster on Thursday night in their 80-68 defeat by the undefeated Gorloks.

GU led 24-21 after the first quarter and extended their lead in the second quarter.

Webster started to turn the tide in the third quarter, outscoring GU 18-10 before taking the game with a 24-18 advantage in the final frame.

The Panthers were led in scoring by Madelyn Stephen's 19 point effort. Emily Reinneck added 15 points, and Ashley Anderson produced 13 points.

Abigail Reinneck finished as the top rebounder in the game with eight caroms. Stephen and Emily Reinneck provided six rebounds, and Emily Reinneck posted five assists and three steals.

The Panthers (8-8, 2-4 SLIAC) travel to Principia for a game on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
