Women's basketball climbs to third place in SLIAC standings

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The women's basketball team built on Saturday's win over Fontbonne with a 75-58 victory at Spalding on Monday night. Greenville took a narrow two point lead at halftime and extended it by outscoring the Golden Eagles by 15 points in the second half for the win.

After one quarter, Spalding led 20-16, but an 18-12 second quarter gave the Panthers a 34-32 advantage at halftime.

In the third quarter, Greenville added to their lead with a 21-14 frame and wrapped up the evening with a 20-14 fourth quarter.

Madelyn Stephen continued her solid play as an offensive catalyst for GU with 19 points.

Emily Reinneck added 18 points and team highs with 11 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in her third double-double of the season.

Ashley Anderson rounded out a trio of double figure scoring efforts with 12 points and also collected eight rebounds.

The Panthers (11-9, 5-5 SLIAC) have ascended to third place in the conference standings and will aim to stay there with four games remaining in the regular season. On Wednesday, they will go to Westminster for a game at 5:30 p.m. where they will attempt to avenge an earlier loss.
